  History

Satorium, which hails from Finland, Pietarsaari/Jakobstad, was formed in year 2001 by drummer Guy Vikman and guitarist Jimmy Bäck. At the time being none of them could even have imagined that Satorium would still be around today. But anyway Satorium was formed and they needed a bassplayer and along came Guy's younger brother Fredrik Vikman (who later on played guitar in Satorium). None of the band members were very experienced in playing in a band so naturally they started playing covers like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and so on. After a while they got bored with playing just covers so they began writing some own songs, that could be called slow heavy metal with crappy vocals. No one could really sing so the guitarist started to sing in a black/death metal style to begin with.

In the beginning of 2003 the style began to change towards a faster style of playing as the band's musical and technical skills improved. The style was thrash metal, slightly melodic with black/death metal vocals. Four songs were made during the spring and they were recorded in the summer of 2003. The first official demo, called Evil Intentions, was released. At the same time there were many try-outs for a fourth member, but none of them remained permanent.

In 2004 the band had a small setback when they started experimenting with several different styles of metal, such as power metal and melodic death metal. Luckily they came to their senses and started playing thrash metal again, which had felt right from the first time of playing fast stuff.

In December 2004 four new thrash metal songs were recorded and this was the band's second demo, called Preech until they bleed. Year 2005 came along and then the band found their fourth member, Christoffer Alvik (bass, guitar), who joined the band in May 2005. In the fall of 2005 the band wanted to change their style of singing into something more melodic, yet distorted, so Fredrik Vikman took place behind the microphone and this became a big improvement for the band.

In December 2005 the band went to the studio to record five new songs with the new vocals. But the result didn't turn out well, because of the lack of time and money. So with new found strength the band tried again in March 2006 with two new songs and a new studio. It resulted in a new demo, called Embraced by Pain, which was released in May 2006. After a while the work on the next demo, Face of Evil, began and that demo was released in the beginning of 2007. As new songs came to life during spring/summer of 2007 the band decided to have them recorded and this resulted in yet another demo, Enter Silence, that was released in february 2008.
